What a rainy day today: weather was quite warm in the morning but soon drops to 13 degree in the late afternoon. Couple that with some rain and you can’t get a taxi ride home at all. Oh well, at least it is the beginning of my vacation, except that I need to go to the hospital tomorrow for a regular health check-up… I guess some people ought to enjoy that, getting all the statistics about one’s health can be a thrilling experience, especially if it is hard to obtain. Not me, well, not me for the type that requires me to visit a hospital. I have my Withings and Fitbit and I am doing just fine, thank you. Anyhow I gotta get there at 7:00 in the morning… Seven? That means I wake up at 6 and leave at 6:30.

So anyways I am going to Japan in a few days. Haven’t been there since 2010. Some would argue that I don’t go there often enough. We will see. The last time I went it was during the winter time in Tokyo, so it honestly wasn’t much fun. This time it is during cherry blossom season in Kyoto, an arguable more historic city with lots of cultural heritage to appreciate. I hope I would enjoy that. Plus I am going with a tour group so that I don’t have to make any plan myself, which suits me really well.

I keep thinking about this problem from Conceptual Mathematics: make a simple experiment that determine if two things are at the same level without using the notion of height. Does the distance between the object count as the notion of height?
